Brexit – UK breach of international law?

March 15, 2021

Since 01 January 2021, it seems that some shops and supermarkets have found it difficult to get enough stock.  Therefore, the UK government appears to have made a unilateral change to extend the grace period regarding the movement of pet travel and goods between Northern Ireland and Great Britain in the Brexit deal as it considers it better for business.

However, the European Commission is of the view that the UK has breached international law and it has today issued a formal notice threatening legal action.  The UK refutes the allegation that it has breached international law and maintains that its actions are wholly lawful.
