Covid-19 – Legal Update: Possession proceedings

June 26, 2020

On 25 June 2020, a new temporary rule came into force that all possession proceedings and enforcement proceedings are to be stayed (“a stay imposes a halt on court proceedings”) until 23 August 2020.  The new rule will apply to all proceedings which were stayed before 25 June 2020 or that are brought between 25 June 2020 and 22 August 2020.

Claims can still be brought but they will be stayed.

The new rule does not apply to claims against trespassers, injunctions, applications for agreed directions or proceedings under the interim possession order procedure.
